It is important to be strong, but even more important to have coordination, balance, postural control, and spinal stability. The best way to develop this is by doing exercises that use the body as a whole as opposed to training individual muscles separately. Machines in the gym are far less effective than exercises such as Pilates or those using a gym ball.

Exercises such as Pilates or those using a gym ball start with the core. They demand the activation and control of abdominal and deep back muscles. These exercises engage the mind as you try to balance and coordinate your body. Once your brain learns and integrates this knowledge, you will remember it unconsciously for the rest of your life. This is crucial for both accident prevention and general fitness. This type of exercise is NOT BORING because it takes concentration and becomes a skill that is fun to do.

Dr. Rehl not only addresses your physical issues with advanced chiropractic techniques, but will teach you how to achieve and maintain improved function with these simple to learn and highly effective core exercises. Dr. Rehl’s prior training as a Pilates teacher, his keen awareness of these important principles and core-strengthening training at Life West Chiropractic College makes him an ideal person to help you understand how to exercise properly.
